About Me

 Let me introduce myself

My name is Megala and I was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka where I practiced as a teacher. Raised by an Indian origin grandmother in the Badulla (Uva) district, where everything is beautiful and surrounded by tea estates and waterfalls vegetable gardens in the hill country of Sri Lanka. I studied in Batticaloa, where I learned about regional food like all kinds of seafood, from my grandmother and friends.

I was first fascinated by cooking because my grandma was an excellent cook. My grandma taught me everything about cooking. I am proud to follow in her footsteps.

My grandmother and my aunts have shaped and taught me cooking and life skills. Cooking skills used to be passed down from generation to generation but this trend has been broken.

After I got married I moved to Canada in the early 90s. My cooking interest became my passion for food. I started to cook for my family then I learnt how to cook different dishes. The more I learn the more I enjoyed it and started to take culinary courses. I am a trained chef and am glad to share my cooking skill with you all.
